Correct Placement
Physical stickers: inside windscreen, upper left corner (driver's perspective), or behind rear-view mirror if heating element present. Must be visible from outside. Non-transferable.
Critical: Incorrect placement = invalid vignette. Sticker cannot be removed and reused.
Digital Vignette
Purchase at asfinag.at. Enter registration plate exactly as on documents. Select start date. No physical sticker needed. Enforcement automatic via cameras.
Exceptions and Exclusions
- Special toll roads (Brenner A13, Arlberg A14, Karawanken A11, Tauern A10) require extra payment.
- Vehicles over 3.5t use GO-Box system.
- Invalid placement = invalid vignette.
- Tampered stickers = invalid.
- Wrong plate on digital = invalid.
- Expired vignette = same penalty as no vignette.
- Ordinary roads do not require a vignette.
- Emergency vehicles are exempt.
